When to use this endpoint

Use when copying quote notes into an invoice or reading them before editing. This is the notes column, separate from form answers and tags.

Authentication and permissions

Authenticates a signed API key or CRM session as its tenant user. Requires Quotes View (pageQuotes_view). Non-admin users blocked by legacy crm_access bit 32 are denied. Roleless non-admin users fail closed. Client administrators inherit page permissions.

Uses local tenant IDs. No additional Quote owner/department predicate is applied; these endpoints do not return a visibility-filtered Job list.

Parameters

ParameterTypeRequiredDescription
idPositive integer-compatible quote IDYesPositive local quote ID, integer-converted; an active quote is required.

Example request

$result = FM_api('Quote_getNotes', ['id'=>'1042']);

Example response

{"notes":"Price valid for 30 days."}

Returns {notes:}, not a bare string. A nullable stored column remains null; text is not HTML-escaped, trimmed or JSON-decoded.

Errors and unusual responses

ResponseCondition
{"error":"not logged in"}No authenticated tenant context is available. Invalid signed credentials can be rejected by the dispatcher before the handler runs.
{"error":"missing or invalid parameter: id"}Missing/null/nonpositive ID.
{"error":"no such quote"}No active quote or failed row lookup.

Legacy application errors may be returned with HTTP 200. Check the decoded response for error, not only the HTTP status.

Behaviour and edge cases

  • Only deleted=0 rows match. No form/customer/user/department restriction, historical-version selection, ordering, pagination or enrichment.
  • Does not create history or mark notes as read. Structured JSON stored inside notes remains a string rather than a parsed note list.
  • No direct mobile app/m-service caller for this RPC was found. This is a CRM quotation workflow.

Side effects

  • Read-only; no database writes, cache invalidation, notices or messages.

See it in Fieldmotion

CRM1

The invoice-table widget calls Quote_getNotes when importing a quote’s notes, then may request Quote_costsGet for its lines.

CRM2

No direct Quote_getNotes caller found. Mapped quote detail fields supply notes to CRM2 widgets.
